There’s a big difference between just showing up to cross a finish line and showing up to make a statement. Up until now, my training has been about consistency, pushing my limits, and seeing what my body can do across different sports. But looking ahead to next year? I don’t just want to finish these events, I want to elevate everything.
I’m stepping into a whole new level of high-intensity training, and I’m taking you along for the process.
The Big Targets: GFNY & Harlem Skyscraper
I’m officially signed up for GFNY, which means getting ready for long, relentless climbing and serious endurance. But I’m also adding something totally different to the mix: the Harlem Skyscraper Classic.
If you know crit racing, you know it’s fast, punchy, and demands explosive power coming out of every single corner. Trying to build long-haul endurance for GFNY alongside high-speed crit power means I can’t just train hard—I have to train smarter than I ever have before.
Honestly, if I want to do a half-decent job with this (ha ha), I might even get a coach depending on how far I decide to take it.
I just don’t want to show up. I want to show out. I want to become a stronger, faster rider, especially for GFNY, and really see what I can accomplish when I push my true ceiling.
Wrapping Up the Current Season First
Before I shift 100% of my focus onto the bike, I still have two non-cycling races left to finish out this chapter:
- A Half Inline Skate Marathon – Getting that deep aerobic base and lateral glute stability on wheels.
- A 5K Road Race – A quick run leg the week after before putting full power into the pedals.
Once those two are done, the running shoes and skates take a back seat, and it is all about cycling.
The Weekly Game Plan
Building real pedal power while keeping my legs fresh enough to climb takes a careful balance between lifting heavy and putting in work on the road. Here is the loose weekly schedule I’m working with as I transition:
- MON: 🏋🏾♀️ Lower Body (Squats + Hip Thrusts + Lunges)
- TUE: 🚴🏾♀️ Central Park Hill Repeats
- WED: 🏋🏾♀️ Lower & Upper (RDLs + Step-ups + Upper Body)
- THU: 🚴🏾♀️ River Road Climbing
- FRI: 🏋🏾♀️Heavy-ish Hypertrophy / Glutes
- SAT: 🚴🏾♀️ Long Outdoor Ride
- SUN: 😴 Active Recovery or Rest
What’s Next
This next chapter is all about exploring how far I can take this. I want to see how fast, strong, and tactical I can get when I give cycling my full, dedicated focus.
Whether you’re prepping for your own big goals or just love seeing the work that goes into pushing past comfort zones, stay tuned. I’ll be sharing the training, the gear, the wins, and the honest lessons along the way.
Let’s see what happens.
