Staying Fit on the Go: My Plan for Two Months Away

I’ll be traveling for work soon and will be gone for two months. While I’d love to bring my kettlebell and dumbbells along, it’s just not practical to lug them across the country. Buying new equipment for such a short time doesn’t make sense either, so I’ve been brainstorming ways to stay consistent with my workouts using what I can easily bring along.

The plan is to switch things up for the next couple of months. I’m packing lightweight, travel-friendly equipment: two jump ropes (one speed and one weighted), a set of mini resistance bands, and a resistance tube.

I’ll admit, I’m pretty new to some of this gear. I’ve used jump ropes before, but I’ve barely touched the resistance tube that my mom randomly bought me one day. My cousin Courtni, who’s a personal trainer, recommended getting resistance bands, she said she takes them with her on vacation because they’re so versatile and provide a good workout. Taking her advice, I grabbed a three-pack of mini resistance bands from Five Below light, medium and heavy resistance.

My Equipment

Here’s how I plan to make the most of what I’m bringing:

– Speed Rope: Perfect for quick cardio sessions. A solid five-minute jump can get my heart rate up fast.

– Weighted Rope: Adds upper-body strength training to my cardio workouts, making it a two-in-one powerhouse.

– Mini Resistance Bands and Tube: Great for targeting both upper and lower body muscle groups, from glutes to shoulders.

With these tools and my own body weight, I should be able to create a full-body routine that works all the major muscle groups.

Adding a Little Challenge

To keep things interesting (and maybe a little fun), I’ll also be adding push-ups into my routine. I haven’t done them in years, so it’ll be interesting to see how I do. On top of that, I’ve started a 30-day plank challenge. It kicked off with a 20-second plank hold and gradually builds up to holding a plank for five whole minutes by the last day.

Pray for me, I’m only on Day 6, and that 45-second hold is already testing me. But hey, if it doesn’t challenge you, it doesn’t change you, right?
