I’ve been in Los Angeles for two months, and it’s just now hitting me, I’m homesick. Not in the traditional sense, but I miss riding my bike and skating.
I usually bring my skates when I travel, but this time, I left them behind, thinking I was packing too much. I could have rented a bike but, didn’t want to spend $100.00 a day for the rental and my friend Serena offered to lend me her bike like she did the first time I came out here but I didn’t have time to ride. At first, I didn’t think much of it, especially with work taking up most of my time but this past week, the feeling has crept up on me. Maybe it’s because my time in LA is winding down, and my mind is already back home, picturing that first ride through my neighborhood weather permitting, I heard it’s been cold back east (ha ha)
It’s not just skating and cycling I’m eager to get back to, I’m looking forward to strength training and settling into a rhythm again. I also have to start training for my 10-mile trail run next month, which will be another challenge to dive into.
Being away has been good, but there’s something about coming home, especially after being away for months. I’ve loved this chapter, but now I’m ready for the next one.
